Is Penhill the Right Home?

Every family’s situation is unique. This guide is designed to help you quickly understand whether Penhill is likely to be a good fit — and what to do if you’re unsure. If you’re still at the earlier stage of deciding whether a care home is right at all, our guide 5 Signs It May Be Time to Consider Residential Care may help.

Penhill is likely a good fit

  • Needs support with day-to-day tasks — washing, dressing, mobility
  • Benefits from companionship, a structured routine and regular activities
  • Managing a long-term physical condition with GP oversight
  • Early signs of forgetfulness that don’t affect safety or independence significantly
  • Recovering after a hospital stay and needs short-term respite care

If this sounds like your loved one, please do call us — we’d love to arrange a visit.

We’d want to discuss your situation

  • Memory loss that is progressing and beginning to affect daily safety
  • Occasional periods of confusion, particularly at night
  • Needs prompting or gentle supervision throughout the day
  • Frequent falls or significant mobility challenges

We carry out an individual assessment for every prospective resident. We won’t turn anyone away without a conversation first.

We may not be the right setting

  • Advanced dementia with frequent exit-seeking or significantly agitated behaviour
  • Requires 24-hour nursing or specialist clinical intervention
  • Needs a locked or secure unit for safety
  • Complex mental health needs requiring specialist assessment

We will always be honest with you. If Penhill isn’t the right fit, we’re happy to point you towards services better placed to help — please don’t hesitate to call.
